Maternity beds donated by Customs

The National Medical Hospital took delivery of three much needed maternity beds recently. The beds were unclaimed goods that were cleared by Customs from Honiara Port. The goods had sat on the wharf for an extended period and were still in excellent condition, having been securely packaged.

Due to the specialized nature of the beds, the Customs Comptroller, Jim Sutton after consultation with Permanent Secretary of MHMS – Pauline McNeil, directed the beds be provided to the National hospital, and not put up for sale at auction.

PS Pauline McNeil thanked the Comptroller of Customs for this gesture and said that the beds would be put to immediate use by the hospital after proper sanitization had been undertaken.
